Chelsea vs Everton

One of the final Premier League ties taking place during midweek will see Chelsea play host to Everton.

Thomas Tuchel’s side head into the encounter having had a fairly mixed run of form of late.

Granted, Chelsea did beat Leeds last time out. But the Peacocks have been in poor goalscoring form this term and were still able to put two past a previously solid Chelsea backline.

Chelsea also only won the tie thanks to a late 94th-minute penalty from Jorginho. Before this, a somewhat fringe Chelsea outfit conceded three against Russian outfit Zenit and, in the match before that, lost 3-2 vs West Ham.

However, the Blues should have a decent chance of putting things right in gameweek 17 vs Rafa Benitez’s Everton, who have won just one of their last nine league matches.

Thomas Tuchel on Chelsea team news

Before facing Everton, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel spoke to the press on Wednesday.

When doing so, the German discussed a number of topics, including team news.

Chelsea have, of course, been hit quite hard by injuries in midfield of late, with both N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic missing several games.

On Wednesday, though, Thomas Tuchel confirmed that N’Golo Kante and Trevoh Chalobah will be back in the squad vs Everton. However, both Kovacic and Ben Chilwell remain out

“N’Golo will be back on the bench tomorrow, Trevoh will also be back in the squad. They did two training sessions. Mateo Kovacic and Ben Chilwell are out.”
