Chelsea’s supporters have flooded to social media on Thursday night, to take aim at one member of the club’s squad in ruthless fashion.
Mount’s strike not enough
Thomas Tuchel, of course, led his side back into action a short time ago.
After slipping off the Premier League’s summit amid a shaky recent spell of form, the Blues welcomed relegation-threatened Newcastle United to Stamford Bridge, hopeful of closing the gap on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to just two points.
When all was said and done in west London, however, Chelsea, once again, came up short.
With a whole host of the club’s key performers sidelined owing to a combination of injury and Covid-19, a disjointed display ultimately saw the European champions forced to settle for a share of the spoils, in a 1-1 draw.
Upon Mason Mount breaking the deadlock twenty minutes from time, Chelsea, on top and in control, looked well on their way to all three points:

However, in just the latest example of the increasingly creaky nature of the club’s backline, Everton bagged what proved to be a decisive equaliser less than five minutes later, courtesy of Jarrad Branthwaite:

Saul targeted
On the back of the action coming to a close at Stamford Bridge on Thursday, on yet another disappointing night for Chelsea amid an alarming mid-season blip, it therefore shouldn’t come as all that much of a surprise to hear of the club’s supporters being up in arms.
A whole host of Thomas Tuchel’s stars failed to perform up against Everton, a side whom, under normal circumstances, the Pensioners would be expected to make light work of.
As alluded to above, though, it is one player in particular who, on the back of the full-time whistle, has been singled out for more widespread criticism than any other.
The man in question? Saul Niguez.
Amid something of a nightmare stint in west London to date, Saul was this evening introduced off the bench, amid Chelsea’s efforts to open the scoring late on.
Another dismal showing, however, has since seen the suggestion spread that, not only is he not of the standard required of the club, but the Spaniard may well represent the worst player to ever pull on the famed Chelsea blue:
Saul has got to be the worst player to ever wear the shirt. He’s worse than bakayoko ffs I’m crying
