Rangnick targets the Bundesliga

Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick may have already told Manchester United who they should sign this January.

In an interview in 2018, the German revealed the three most impressive Bundesliga talents (behind Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham), saying:

“Amadou Haidara, Ibrahima Konate and Tyler Adams are all top level and will show that.”

And it is Amadou Haidara that speculation has swirled around since, amid rumours of a January move that would involve activating his 33 million euro release clause.

Haidara has impressed in the middle of the park for the Bulls in the Bundesliga since the interview, and has made 12 BuLi appearances thus far this season, 10 of which came from the off.

Haidara speaks out

And now, amid the rumours, Haidara has spoken to SportsBild about his future, revealing the importance of Rangnick in his career, and his interest in Manchester United.

The midfielder claimed:

“Yes, Ralf plays a very big role in my career. Don’t forget: when Leipzig wanted to get me, I tore my cruciate ligament. But Ralf said that I should come anyway. I wouldn’t have expected that back then,” he said.

“I’m very grateful to him because he really wanted me and gave me great confidence as a coach in Leipzig. He later told me to stay with RB and trust that Julian Nagelsmann would make me better.”

With Manchester United heavily linked with a move for the Mali international in January following the arrival of Rangnick, Haidara was quizzed on the rumours, and fanned the flames, saying:

“Everyone had a favorite team as a kid. Mine was Manchester United. I was a big fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, I liked Paul Scholes, Patrice Evra, Edwin van der Sar, Anderson. But if you want to talk to me about rumors: I’m at Leipzig and I feel good.”

Will we see him at Old Trafford come the end of January?
