Tottenham set to return to action

Antonio Conte and Tottenham Hotspur are set to return to action after two weeks without a game as they host high-flying Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

The Lilywhites have spent the last fortnight overcome with a COVID-19 outbreak, which effectively saw them crash out of the Europa Conference League after their game against Rennes was postponed by the north London side.

They have also seen their Premier League games against Leicester City and Brighton and Hove Albion called off, meaning that they have fallen three games behind their Premier League rivals. They also saw their clash with Burnley called off thanks to poor weather conditions, which could see them with a very hectic end to the season as they look to replay those games.

And now, they could be losing some key squad depth.

Bergwijn on the way out

Now, as per Dutch outlets, Steven Bergwijn could be on his way out of north London on loan.

According to The Telegraaf, Ajax are keen on bringing the Dutchman back to the Eredivisie, which he left in January 2020. However, they face stiff competition from both the Serie A and La Liga, as per the report, though it is unclear at this point who those sides are.

A Dutch journalist told the outlet:

“You have probably read in the English media that Conte does not really feel the need to keep Bergwijn for Tottenham Hotspur. However, Ajax has competition. There is a big Spanish club and there are also some Italian clubs that want to loan him. So Overmars has to work hard to get him to Amsterdam. I don’t know which Spanish club it is, but it is a top club.”

Will we see him depart come the January window?
