Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold was recently asked about the possibility of him signing for Manchester United.

Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool stint

For several years now Trent Alexander-Arnold has been one of the brightest young defenders in world football.

Despite still only being 23, Trent has played key roles in Liverpool winning both the Champions League and Premier League.

In 2019/20, for example, Trent would provide a staggering 13 assists in the league, which saw him etch his name into the history books for the most assists by a defender in a single PL campaign.

He will also go down in Liverpool’s history for his ‘corner taken quickly’ vs FC Barcelona in the semi-final of the Champions League.

This season, meanwhile, Trent has continued to excel and has now already notched a staggering two goals and 10 assists in 18 outings for the Reds.

Alexander-Arnold responds to Manchester United question

Now, in a recent interview, the full-back, as mentioned above, has been asked about the possibility of signing for Manchester United.

Manchester United are one of Liverpool’s biggest rivals and Merseyside-born people like Alexander-Arnold tend not to look too fondly at United for this reason.

So, it was interesting when TAA was recently asked whether he would rather retire or sign for United.

This promoted Alexander-Arnold to offer up a fairly blunt response to the interviewer, simply stating:

“Right now, retire to be honest. I could not do that.”

Though United fans are probably not going to admit it, they would likely take the Liverpool man over their own English right-back, Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Wan-Bissaka has struggled for form of late and has recently been dropped by Ralf Rangnick for Diogo Dalot.
