Barcelona youngster Gavi is on course to top an impressive leaderboard this season.
Barcelona edge past Elche
Barcelona faced off with relegation-threatened Elche on Saturday evening.
Barca headed into the tie in pretty poor form, with their previous outing having seen them blow a 2-1 lead vs Osasuna.
And, on Saturday, it looked as though Xavi Hernandez’s side were set to blow a lead once again.
La Blaugrana started the tie brightly and were 2-0 up after 19 minutes thanks to strikes from Ferran Blanc and Gavi.
However, despite maintaining their lead until the 61st minute, Barca then found themselves level at 2-2 with 63 minutes on the clock owing to a quick double from Tete Morente and Pere Milla.
As has become the norm, though, one of Barcelona’s young guns stepped up to save the day, with Nico Gonzalez netting a crucial 85th-minute winner:

Gavi’s first Barcelona strike
Following the game, it has been revealed that Gavi is on course to top an impressive leader board for the 2021/22 campaign.
As revealed by Opta, after netting his first senior goal for Barca on Saturday, Gavi is now the youngest goalscorer in Europe’s top-five leagues so far this season.
He achieved the feat at 17 years and 135 days old:
