Supporters of Newcastle United have taken to social media in numbers on Sunday, to take aim at one member of Eddie Howe’s squad.

Citizens on top

The Magpies are of course currently locked in action.

In a daunting task amid the club’s tense battle at the foot of the Premier League table, Howe and co. welcomed champions Manchester City to St. James’ Park, eyeing just a 2nd victory of the campaign.

Late in the action on Sunday, however, altogether unsurprisingly, it is City who look set to secure all three points.

A predictably dominant display currently sees the Sky Blues leading Newcastle by two goals to nil owing to Ruben Dias’ early finish, and the following stunner from Joao Cancelo:

*Update* – Riyad Mahrez has since made it 3-0.

‘Worst ever’

In turn, amid another harrowing afternoon’s work for their side, it should not come as too much of a surprise to hear of those of a Newcastle persuasion making their frustrations with a number of the club’s stars well known.

The likes of Jamaal Lascelles, Martin Dubravka and more have all been singled out for heavy criticism to this point in the action on Tyneside.

None, however, has been more widely targeted than Ciaran Clark.

Defender Clark was heavily at fault for City’s opener on Sunday, allowing the ball to float over his head in baffling fashion, opening the door for Ruben Dias to nod home from close range.

His latest mistake, and overall display this afternoon, in turn, have culminated in many a Newcastle supporter going as far as to label the Irishman the worst player to ever pull on the famed black and white of the Magpies:
