Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has come in for widespread praise on Sunday evening, on the back of his side’s showing versus Liverpool.

Son secures a point

Italian tactician Conte of course guided Spurs back into action a short time ago.

After seeing their prior two fixtures called off owing to a major Covid-19 outbreak in the club’s camp, the Lilywhites turned their attentions back towards matters in the Premier League, in a showdown with title-chasing Liverpool.

And though, in the end, Conte and co. didn’t quite manage the upset they were no doubt hoping for, the capital outfit did emerge with a deserved share of the spoils, in a 2-2 stalemate.

After Harry Kane opened the scoring inside fifteen minutes on Sunday, Liverpool soon turned the clash on its head, courtesy of strikes of their own from Diogo Jota and Andy Robertson.

Spurs, though, were not to be denied, eventually bagging what proved to be a decisive equaliser fifteen minutes from time, when Heung-min Son took advantage of a poor piece of goalkeeping on the part of Alisson.

‘Magician’

Despite their side ultimately emerging with just a share of the spoils against a depleted Liverpool outfit (who were reduced to ten men late on) on Sunday, Tottenham’s supporters have since understandably found plenty to smile about post-match.

The north Londoners looked the better team throughout much of the action, and had it not been for inexcusable wastefulness in front of goal, particularly in the first-half, would undoubtedly have come away with all three points this evening.

Amongst the star performers for the hosts on the day were the likes of Eric Dier, Ryan Sessegnon, Dele Alli and Harry Winks.

Rather than single out individual players for praise on the back of the full-time whistle, however, many of a Spurs persuasion have since been keen to attribute the remarkable improvement showcased by long-criticised pair Alli and Winks in particular to one man.

The individual in question? Antonio Conte…
