Recent reports from France claim that Everton are eyeing something of a January clear-out.

Everton’s decline

Everton would, of course, appoint Rafa Benitez as their new boss over the summer following the departure of Carlo Ancelotti.

The Spaniard arrived back on Merseyside to some anger given his connections to Everton’s bitter rivals, Liverpool.

That anger seemed to quickly wash away following the Toffees’ positive start to the campaign, though.

Everton would lose just one of their opening seven league ties this season and looked on course to be fighting for a top-seven/six spot.

However, after a 1-1 draw with Manchester United in gameweek seven, their form fell off a cliff.

Everton’s only league victory since a 2-0 win over Norwich back in September came vs Arsenal in gameweek 15.

Everton have lost seven and drawn two of their nine league outings since then, slipping down to 14th and well off the pace of the Europe-chasing sides.

Everton want to sell in January

Now, ahead of the January window, it is not at all surprising to see it reported that Everton would like to get rid of several players this winter.

Amongst these players are said to be Lucas Digne, Fabian Delph and Cenk Tosun:

Digne’s name being on that list would have seemed strange a few months ago, but the Frenchman has since seemingly fallen out with Benitez:
