Chelsea stutter in title charge
Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea’s decline in form has coincided almost exactly with Ben Chilwell’s absence after the rampaging wing-back suffered an ACL injury.
It is not just his injury that has hampered the Blues, with midfield crises and COVID-19 outbreaks preventing Tuchel from naming a full 18 against Wolves last weekend, where he could only field 6 players on the substitutes bench.

However, the brutal fact of the matter is that the 0-0 stalemate a Molineux has left Chelsea six points off the top of the Premier League table, and they head into their Carabao Cup quarter final tie with Brentford looking for just their 3rd win in eight games, which has seen them slip behind their fellow title challengers.
But now, they may have been handed a boost on the injury front, which could affect their transfer business in the month to come.
Ben Chilwell return date set
The Blues could be set to be bolstered by the return of Chilwell sooner than expected.
The Englishman was widely thought to be out for the rest of the campaign following his ACL injury, but the club chose not to commit to surgery, and instead let it heal naturally.
As a result, LondonWorld report that he could return much sooner than anticipated, with Chilwell and Chelsea targetting a return next month.

More specific yet, the report claims that “he is on course to return in January 2022, and the medical team are hoping for the home match against Tottenham”, which is scheduled for January 23rd.
Just how much of a boost could his return be?
