Liverpool behind at half time

In an end to end first half, Liverpool find themselves 2 goals down at half-time in the quarter final of the Carabao Cup, and are heading out of the competition as it stands.

Fielding a much rotated side against an almost full strength Leicester City outfit, Jamie Vardy inflicted damage on the inexperienced backline in the opening quarter of an hour, striking twice and handing Brendan Rodgers’ side the initiative in the process.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain pulled one back for Jurgen Klopp’s side, but a stunning strike from James Maddison saw the two goal cushion restored come the game’s midway point.

And now, Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to vent their anger.

Fans pine for one squad player in particular

After a poor first half for the Liverpool backline, fans took to social media in order to pine for the return of one man. The player in question? Centre-back Nat Phillips.

Phillips is widely expected to depart come January and missed this clash with a facial injury, but many Liverpool fans were wishing he wasn’t.

Will Nat Phillips still be a Liverpool player come the end of January?
