Manchester City close to Ferran Torres sale

Ahead of the January transfer window, one major transfer is on the verge of being completed.

Spain star Ferran Torres is on the brink of joining Barcelona from Manchester City, that will see the Citizens double their 21 million pound investment in him, and then some.

The departing Manchester City man, who has made 43 appearances and scored 16 times for Pep Guardiola’s side, is set to pen a five-year contract in Catalonia, in a move that could prove a brilliant one in years to come.

But, could it affect Tottenham in a major way too?

Tottenham to take advantage of Barcelona strife?

Tottenham have already played this trick once.

On deadline day, Barcelona’s well-documented financial problems saw them part ways with Emerson Royal, with the Brazilian fullback joining the Lilywhites in a 25 million pound deal.

Six months on, they could be set to repeat the move.

As per Spanish reporter Guillem Balague, Barcelona cannot add Torres to their squad until they shift players, meaning that they are likely to be open to offers for fringe players.

Tottenham are also reported to be interested in strengthening their side in the coming transfer window, with The Athletic reporting that they are targetting a right wing-back and a backup forward as priorities.

With the likes of Sergino Dest hot property among European clubs, and potentially available on the cheap, could Tottenham repeat their Emerson tactic and pick up a bargain?
