Two Premier League games called off

The Boxing day fixture list is meant to be one of the highlights of the Premier League season.

However, the games could be few and far between at current rates.

Among the ten due to be played, two have already been postponed.

First, Leeds vs Liverpool was called off due to five COVID-19 cases in the Leeds camp meaning that they could not field a side.

Then, within minutes, Watford’s clash with Wolves was also postponed, meaning that both the early kick-offs are now set to be rearranged.

But could there be more?

Benitez reveals Everton woes

Now, as per the reliable Paul Joyce, Everton have had a request to postpone their clash with Burnley rejected by the Premier League, after they recorded five positive cases of COVID-19.

And, in his press conference, Rafa Benitez revealed the scale of the damage, claiming that he was down to just 9 senior outfield players thanks to illness and injury. Interestingly, one of those is Lucas Digne, who was frozen out but may be required against Sean Dyche’s side.

Any more cases for the Toffees, however, and the game could be called off.
