Reece James leaves on crutches

Reece James left Stamford Bridge on crutches after sustaining a hamstring injury in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion.

The result leaves the Blues 8 points behind Manchester City, and represents a massive blow to their title chances as they continue to slump, having won just one of their last 5 home games, with four draws.

And Reece James is set to join Ben Chilwell on the treatment table, with Chilwell out for the rest of the season, Chelsea confirmed yesterday.

Asked about James after the game, Tuchel revealed:

“No prognosis on Reece James. Hamstring injury. We have no more wing-backs, we have everybody injured. I will always protect my players. No we need to not talk about the next game.”

And in the time since, Chelsea fans have taken to social media to beg for a pair of January additions.

Full backs please

Writing on Twitter, several Chelsea fans have demanded that the club act to rectify their defensive issues in the January transfer window, with two names at forefront of their minds.

The players in question? Everton’s Lucas Digne and Barcelona’s Sergino Dest.

Will Chelsea act to reinforce their backline?
