The post-match reaction to Manchester United’s downing of Burnley this evening has seen one player in particular widely singled out for praise.

Ronaldo amongst the goals

Ralf Rangnick’s outfit were of course back in action a short time ago.

On the back of a hugely disappointing stalemate with Newcastle on Monday, the Red Devils welcomed Burnley to Old Trafford, eyeing a swift return to winning ways.

And, to their credit, when all was said and done, secure all three points is precisely what United managed.

Though far from a vintage performance on the whole, an explosive opening 35 minutes ultimately proved enough to guide the hosts to all three points, by means of a 3-1 triumph.

The ever-involved Scott McTominay opened the scoring on the day, before Jadon Sancho’s deflected effort just shy of the half-hour mark was followed up by a customary Cristiano Ronaldo strike a short time later.

Aaron Lennon did manage to pull one back for visitors Burnley shortly before the interval, but, in the end, it proved too little, too late.

‘Take a bow’

In turn, on the back of a largely comfortable evening’s work for their side coming to an end, it would have been easy to assume that Manchester United’s supporters would be quick to single a whole host of the club’s stars out for praise.

This, however, has in fact since proven far from the case.

Instead, only a select few have been on the receiving end of plaudits for their individual displays, amongst them the likes of Luke Shaw and Edinson Cavani.

But no other has come even close to the level of praise received by the superb Scott McTominay.

Scottish international McTominay ran the show from his berth in the middle of the park tonight, linking defence to attack, throwing himself into challenges with trademark gusto, and even chipping in with the game’s opening goal.

The 25-year-old, as a result, has been widely labelled as Man of the Match, with just some of the social media reaction to McTominay’s latest display showcased below:
