Tottenham Hotspur could be in line for an early funds boost in January, amid claims of discussions being opened over the permanent sale of Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Stellar Celtic stint

Stopper Carter-Vickers, of course, secured his latest departure from north London this past summer.

After enjoying something of a hit-and-miss spell with AFC Bournemouth the season prior, the now-24-year-old was lured to Scotland, to link up with capital giants Celtic.

And Carter-Vickers, in turn, has since gone on to earn rave reviews for his performances in Bhoys colours.

The United States international, once regarded as the ‘next big thing’ on his way through the youth ranks at Spurs, has managed to establish himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet of new boss Angelos Postecoglou, on his way to a none-too-shabby 24 starts across all competitions.

Carter-Vickers has even managed to chip in with a couple of contributions in front of goal, finding the net in league meetings with both Ross County and Hibernian:

Staying put?

In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear of word beginning to spread that Celtic boss Postecoglou has made clear his intention to seal a permanent deal for the Tottenham talent.

And, as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media on Friday evening is anything to go by, then such a move could even come to fruition ahead of schedule.

As per a report from the Daily Record, citing sources at Spurs, talks have been opened between the respective boards in north London and Glasgow, over a permanent transfer for Carter-Vickers.

A purchase clause is understood to have been included as part of the stopper’s loan deal at Celtic Park, albeit surrounding an agreement in the summer, rather than January.

Carter-Vickers’ stellar form, however, has seen such discussions brought forward, with a £6 million transfer, in turn, looking very much on the cards.
