A piece of footage centering on referee Stuart Attwell and Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli has gone viral across social media on Saturday evening.

Rodri at the death

Arsenal, of course, were back in action a short time ago.

Amid a fine stretch of form amid the club’s efforts to secure a top-4 berth, the Gunners welcomed rampant champions Manchester City to the Emirates, for a highly-anticipated Premier League clash.

Mikel Arteta’s outfit headed into proceedings aware that a surprise triumph on the day would mark not only a 6th successive victory across all competitions, but also guide them to within three points of 3rd-placed Liverpool in the English top-flight table.

When all was said and done in north London, however, ultimately, Arsenal were put to the sword by two goals to one.

A controversy-strewn 90 minutes, featuring a red card, two penalty shouts and an injury-time winner on the part of Rodri, ensured that Pep Guardiola’s Man City opened their advantage at the Premier League’s summit to a full eleven points.

Gunners fume

On the back of such a back-and-forth outing, which, in truth, could have gone either way on Saturday, it should therefore come as little surprise to hear of the Arsenal faithful making their feelings crystal clear across social media post-match.

Many of a Gunners persuasion feel as though their side were hard done by when it came to the officiating at the Emirates, with major decisions involving all of Granit Xhaka, Ederson and Gabriel Magalhaes having gone against the day’s hosts.

And, as alluded to above, post-match, the emergence of a fresh piece of footage has only resulted in the frustrations of Arsenal’s supporters mounting even further.

The clip in question centers on Gabriel Martinelli, and referee on the day Stuart Attwell.

Shortly after Manchester City levelled things up courtesy of Riyad Mahrez’s spot-kick, Martinelli was guilty of fluffing a gilt-edged opportunity to put the Gunners back in front, somehow managing to hit the outside of the woodwork with the goal at his mercy.

As showcased below, though, much to the disillusionment of all associated with Arsenal, the chance was actually made considerably more difficult by the aforementioned Attwell.

This came as the official, moments prior to the ball dropping to Martinelli, having darted across the Brazilian, essentially blocking his view of the action until the final second:
