Word stemming from the Spanish media on Sunday has pointed towards a potential attacker exchange coming to fruition between FC Barcelona and Manchester United this month.

Torres in, more to come?

It is of course common knowledge that, over the coming weeks, those in a position of power at the Camp Nou have set their sights firmly on securing reinforcements in the final third.

On the back of a less-than-impressive opening to the campaign, Xavi and co. have evidently come to the conclusion that a greater goal threat is required, to kick on towards a top-4 finish in La Liga.

One such arrival, meanwhile, has already been forthcoming, in the form of Manchester City’s Ferran Torres:

With the likes of Martin Braithwaite and Memphis Depay sidelined, and Sergio Aguero having been forced to announce his retirement from the game, though, Barca remain on the lookout for fresh blood through the middle.

Man United swap eyed

And, as alluded to above, on Sunday, a new name has been tipped to link up with Xavi’s squad before the January window slams shut.

The player in question? Anthony Martial.

As per a report from Catalan outlet Diario ARA, the transfer team at the Camp Nou are currently exploring avenues towards bringing in a new striker, whilst simultaneously ridding themselves of Ousmane Dembele.

French international Dembele is understood to have rejected the offer of a new contract in Barcelona, meaning the gifted but seldom fit wide-man is currently in line to depart as a free agent in the summer.

To avoid such a scenario, it is therefore explained that Barca and Manchester United are in discussions over the prospect of an exchange-of-sorts.

Such a deal would see Dembele make the move to Old Trafford on a permanent basis this month, with Martial heading to Catalunya on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
