Zakaria set to leave for free in the summer

German club Borussia Monchengladbach revealed last week that both Mathias Ginter and Denis Zakaria will be leaving the club in six months’ time for nothing.

In an official statement, the club revealed:

Denis Zakaria has informed the club of his intention to leave in the summer after five years at Gladbach. Matthias Ginter will also leave the Foals at the end of the season. “I already contacted his agent before Christmas and said that we would be planning without him from the summer at the latest,” said Eberl.

The defensive midfielder has impressed during his time with the Bundesliga outfit, and with a transfer value of 24 million pounds according to transfermarkt, is sure to have a long queue of suitors battling for his services in the summer.

However, there is also the opportunity to jump the gun with a move in January, that would likely set any prospective buyer a minimal fee, but would cut out much of the competition.

Four clubs keen on January move

Now, as per transfer journalist Jonathan Shrager, four clubs have made a move to sign the Swiss midfielder in January, although Arsenal, despite being linked recently. are not one of them.

Bundesliga outfits Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are both thought to be keen on the 24 year old, while Premier League pair Manchester United and Liverpool are both also named as having expressed interest already.

With plenty of time left in the transfer window, will one of these clubs pull the trigger on a move?
