Reports stemming from Italy have credited Liverpool with an interest in Olympiacos star Aguibou Camara.

Who is Aguibou Camara?

Aguibou Camara joined Olympiacos from Lille in July of 2021.

Camara had previously made just one appearance for Lille’s senior side, scoring one goal in the process.

Since then, though, Camara has become a key cog in Olympiacos’ side.

All told, Camara had made 25 appearances for the Greek outfit this term, notching five goals and providing four assists in the process.

Camara is an attacking midfielder by trade, but he can also play in a deeper midfield role or as a right-winger.

The 20-year-old is contracted to Olympiacos until 2025.

Liverpool eye Camara

Despite this, Camara is attracting interest from a top Premier League side.

101 covered a report at the back end of 2021 that claimed Manchester United were scouting Aguibou Camara.

Now though, it is Manchester United’s bitter rivals Liverpool who are being linked.

As per Goal citing Italian outlet Calciomercato:

Liverpool have identified Olympiacos star Aguibou Camara as a transfer target

Italian giants AC Milan are also said to hold an interest in Camara.

No potential fee is mentioned in the report.

Do Liverpool need Camara?

Whilst Liverpool have been linked with Camara, do they actually need to sign him.

In Jurgen Klopp’s 4-3-3, the three central midfielders – at least the two wide mids – are more suited to box-to-box roles, rather than being natural attacking midfielders.

And, for those times when Liverpool do need some attacking spark from midfield, they can already call upon Thiago and Harvey Elliot (when he is fit).

Curtis Jones is also proving himself to be a solid option in midfield, leaving Liverpool fairly well stocked in that area right now.
