In what is a rapidly developing situation, Liverpool have now opted to close their training facilities amid an ongoing Covid-19 outbreak at the club.

Liverpool’s covid crisis

Liverpool experience their first Covid-19 outbreak of the season when Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho, Curtis Jones and Thiago all tested positive for the virus.

Said players have since returned to action, barring Thiago who is out due to a fitness issue.

However, Liverpool are now currently in the midst of a second outbreak.

Along with Jurgen Klopp; Joel Matip, Alisson and Roberto Firmino all missed out vs Chelsea on Sunday after contracting covid.

It was then confirmed on Tuesday that Liverpool’s meeting with Arsenal on Thursday was in doubt due to more covid cases:


Liverpool would then confirm on Tuesday evening that they had requested their meeting with Arsenal this week be postponed, before announcing that assistant Pepijn Lijnders has too tested positive.

Meanwhile, it has been reported elsewhere that the further positive tests include players as well.

Will their meeting with Arsenal go ahead? At this point it seems very unlikely.
