Tottenham under Conte

Antonio Conte took charge of Tottenham back in November, and has since improved the club’s form a fair bit.

In the Premier League, Conte has taken charge of eight games so far, remaining unbeaten throughout, and most recently seeing off Watford by a goal to nil last Saturday thanks to a Davinson Sanchez winner in the 96th minute.

This has seen Spurs move up to 6th in the Premier League table, with the Lilywhites boasting at least two games in hand on the two teams above them – fixtures which, if they win, could see them climb to 4th in the table.

However, whilst Spurs have enjoyed a solid start to life under Conte, the former Juventus boss is seemingly aware that this side is by no means the finished article.

Antonio Conte not enamoured with Emerson Royal

In a recent report from The Times, it has been suggested that Conte is not overly pleased with Emerson Royal.

Emerson was brought in from FC Barcelona over the summer during Nuno Espirito Santo’s first and only transfer window at the club.

Since Conte has taken charge, Emerson has still largely been used as Spurs’ no.1 right-back.

However, as he does everywhere he goes, Conte switched Tottenham to a back-three/five, playing Emerson as a right-wing-back.

But the Italian is seemingly not too happy with how the South American has performed in this role.

The Times report that Conte is of the opinion that the former Barcelona man is not suited to being a right-wing-back and leaves much to be desired going forward.

The same report from The Times links Wolves’ Adama Traore with the north London outfit. Could he become Tottenham’s new RWB?
