Newcastle need to sign more players

The January transfer window is a crucial one for Newcastle and their new owners.

The Magpies are expected to go on and become one of England’s most dominant sides over the next decade, being backed by the SAPIF, which had an estimated worth of £320b in 2020.

First and foremost, however, Newcastle need to avoid relegation in the 2021/22 season, as sliding out of the English top-flight could set any potential project back years.

At present, Eddie Howe’s side are 19th in the Premier League having won just one league game all campaign.

So, though Newcastle have already signed one big name in the form of Kieran Trippier, there is still much work to be done at St James’ – as shown by the fact Newcastle, even with Trippier playing, lost to Cambridge in the FA Cup this past weekend.

Newcastle eye Noah Okafor

One key area Newcastle really need to address is centre-forward.

At present, Callum Wilson is their only decent option in this role. But he is currently sidelined, leaving Newcastle with very little firepower.

Newcastle as a club are seemingly well aware of their need for fresh legs up top, with a number of names linked with the club of late, including Burnley’s Chris Wood and Liverpool’s Divock Origi:

Now, a fresh name has been linked with the Magpies via teamTALK who report:

Newcastle have added RB Salzburg striker Noah Okafor to their list of potential attacking signings this month

Okafor, 21, signed for Salzburg from FC Basel in January of 2020. He has since scored 21 and assisted 12 for the Austrian outfit.
