Bissouma catching the eye

Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma has been the subject of plenty of interest and intrigue over the past 18 months.

The Mali midfielder, who has spent the last 3 and a half years at the Amex stadium, has caught the eye with his ability both on and off the ball, with ArsenalLiverpool and Manchester United all credited with an interest in the 25-year-old last summer.

And now, come January, Aston Villa are the latest side to have shown an interest in taking the rising star off Brighton’s books, and adding him to their side.

And now, Brighton boss Graham Potter has had his say on the situation.

Potter “confident” Bissouma will stay

Bissouma’s current status on international duty with Mali did not stop Brighton boss Graham Potter from fielding a series of questions on the future of his midfielder, who has been particularly impressive in the last 18 months.

However, the Seagulls boss seemed calm on the situation, and suggested that he expects Bissouma to still be at the club come February.

Potter revealed:

I’m confident. I think Yves is enjoying his football here but with the transfer window you never know. You always plan for something you can’t necessarily forsee. We’re in a good place. We’ll see.”

Of course, Aston Villa have already shelled out 25 million pounds for Lucas Digne, as well as hefty wages for Philippe Coutinho’s loan move. Can they afford to throw another 50 million pounds at Brighton for Bissouma this January?
