Davies diagnosed with myocarditis
Bayern Munich’s Canadian star Alphonso Davies is set to miss a few weeks after the 21-year-old starlet was diagnosed with mild myocarditis; inflammation of the heart.

This comes in the wake of Davies recently testing positive for Covid-19 and subsequently going through his recovery period before being reintroduced back into the squad at Säbener Strasse.
In quotes provided by ESPN’s lead Bundesliga commentator Derek Rae, Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann provided details on the situation as it stands;
“With Phonzie, it’s the case that yesterday in the follow up examination that we do with every player who has been infected with Covid, we detected signs of a slight myocarditis, in other words heart muscle inflammation.
He won’t be available for the next few weeks as for obvious reasons he must heal completely. From the ultrasound the myocarditis is not so dramatic, there are signs. But it must heal & that takes time. We should expect to be without him for a fairly long time.
The fact is he has it, & that’s not great to crappy, to really crappy.”
Bayern stretched thin at the back
Despite their six-point lead over domestic rivals Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich could now be a little vulnerable after their depth in defense has taken a bit of a hit through a combination of Covid-19, injury, and AFCON assignments.

Right-back Bouna Sarr is away with Senegal on duty in Cameroon, Josip Stanisic was previously dealing with torn muscle bundles, and French international Lucas Hernández is still recovering from his positive Covid test all before Davies’ set back.
A tricky away day at in-form 1.FC Köln looms at the weekend, and failure to secure three points could keep the door open for Dortmund to further close the gap after the Bavarian giants succumbed to a 2-1 home defeat against Borussia Mönchengladbach at the Allianz Arena.
