Manchester City have been handed some good news on the personnel front ahead of their upcoming meeting with Chelsea.

Manchester City vs Chelsea

Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off will see Manchester City and Chelsea go head-to-head at the Etihad.

The tie is of huge importance to both sides when it comes to the 2021/22 PL title race.

Chelsea head into the game sat a full 10 points adrift of Man City with 21 games played each.

Should they lose on Saturday and that gap widen to 13, you would have to assume that, even if Thomas Tuchel’s side play well for the rest of the campaign, they would not be able to overturn such a deficit.

Manchester City, on the other hand, would likely be aggrieved if their lead over the Londoners was reduced to just seven points, but that is still a decent bit of breathing space, nonetheless.

Pep Guardiola boost ahead of Chelsea

Ahead of the game, as mentioned above, Manchester City have been handed a personnel boost.

Man City would suffer a Covid-19 outbreak earlier this month, with a reported 21 players and staff testing positive and being forced into self-isolation.

Among these was Pep Guardiola, who could not take charge of Man City’s recent FA Cup win last weekend.

However, the Daily Mail are now reporting that Guardiola was back at City’s training ground on Thursday after initially being unable to return in the build-up to the Chelsea clash.

Slightly later than Pep would have probably wanted yes, but it is still a big boost for the Citizens.
