A fresh insight into the status of Rafael Benitez as Everton boss has been forthcoming late on Saturday evening.

Canaries triumph

The under-fire Benitez of course guided his side back into action a short time ago.

Amid an alarming spell of form in the Premier League, the Toffees made the trip to Carrow Road, eyeing a long overdue return to winning ways at the expense of basement dwellers Norwich City.

When all was said and done, however, the crisis situation on the blue half of Merseyside only continued to worsen.

Despite pulling one back in the 2nd-half courtesy of a moment of magic on the part of Richarlison, Everton, ultimately, were put to the sword by two goals to one, owing to a Michael Keane own goal, and Man of the Match Adam Idah’s finish inside 20 minutes.

Rafa on his way?

In turn, on the back of another hugely underwhelming day’s work on the part of their side, it should come as little surprise to hear that the Everton faithful have since been quick to point the finger of blame squarely in the direction of one man.

The individual in question? Rafael Benitez.

Amid a season to forget for the club to date, Everton’s fans have long made clear their desire for Benitez to be moved on as soon as possible.

And, if the latest reports spreading across the media late on Saturday evening are anything to go by, then the ‘Rafa out’ contingent could well have their wishes granted before long.

As per the reliable David Ornstein of The Athletic, there is ‘growing uncertainty’ surrounding the position on the bench at Goodison Park.

This comes amid the suggestion that there is essentially ‘no way back’ for Benitez at Everton, with sources close to the club having gone as far as to hint that the one-time Liverpool head coach will be sent on his way before next weekend’s meeting with Aston Villa:
