Fans have flooded to social media late on Sunday evening, to poke fun at La Liga heavyweights FC Barcelona, on the back of the club’s latest message to Real Madrid.
Benzema amongst the goals
Los Blancos were of course back in action earlier today.
Days on from sending Barca packing from the Supercopa de Espana at the semi-final stage, Carlo Ancelotti and co. faced off with Athletic Club for Super Cup glory.
And, when all was said and done, Real, as predicted, went on to bag the club’s first silverware of the campaign.
Goals on the part of Luka Modric and Karim Benzema ultimately proved enough to guide the La Liga table-toppers to a 2-0 triumph, thanks in further part to the late penalty heroics of Thibaut Courtois:

‘Congratulations FC’
On the back of the action coming to a close at the King Fahd Stadium, meanwhile, one of those first to send their congratulations to Real Madrid have been none other than Clasico rivals Barcelona.
Taking to the club’s social media platforms, the Catalans sent a simple message, stating:
‘Congratulations Real Madrid for the Super Cup title’
Congratulations @realmadriden for the Super Cup title
— FC Barcelona (@FCBarcelona) January 16, 2022
It should not come as all that much of a surprise to hear that the Blaugrana faithful, in turn, have since made clear their disillusionment with the actions of their club, with many questioning why such a message was deemed at all necessary.
Rival fans, though, have seen the funny side of things, taking aim at Barca by means of a new nickname:
