United need a win

Manchester United need a win after a defeat and a draw in their last two Premier League games, as they now find themselves five points outside of the top four, with two sides above them having games in hand on the Red Devils.

Now, with a trip to Brentford, they have a chance to get their season back on track.

And, while Cristiano Ronaldo returns to the Manchester United side this evening and there is another chance for youngster Anthony Elanga after impressing against Aston Villa, there were several big absentees.

Why Cavani and Sancho are missing against Brentford

101 already reported that Harry Maguire would only be fit enough to make the bench this evening, and it seems as though another personnel issue has come to the fore ahead of the clash.

The player in question? Edinson Cavani, the Uruguayan forward.

And now, Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick has revealed just why he is missing, claiming that he was a casualty of Tuesday’s training session:

“Edinson had to drop out after training yesterday, some muscular problems. I’m happy to have Cristiano back in the team.”

Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho misses out due to “personal reasons”, according to the Manchester Evening News.

This leaves just wantaway Anthony Martial and horribly out-of-form Marcus Rashford as options from the bench should they find themselves behind in the encounter this evening.

Will it be enough to see them home with three points?
