Tottenham and West Ham search for reinforcements

Both Tottenham and West Ham are on the lookout for January reinforcements, as they look to strengthen their hand ahead of the home stretch of the season.

The pair of London clubs are in the race for the top 4, with West Ham currently occupying the spot, although they have played 4 more times than Antonio Conte’s side and sit just 4 points clear.

However, neither side are flush with cash at present, with both sides looking to wheel and deal this January.

So, what about Lingard?

Interest in Lingard high

One man who could be available on the cheap is Jesse Lingard, who has just six months left to run on his current Manchester United contract, and seems unlikely to renew it.

Off the back of a brilliant half-season for West Ham, where Lingard produced 9 goals and 5 assists in 16 appearances, his gametime in Manchester has once again been limited, starting just two games all season despite poor form of those around him.

And, with a World Cup on the horizon and getting closer, he may need a chance to recover his form, having lost his place in the England squad for Euro2020.

However, as per BBC sport, Newcastle have become the last horse in the race for the Red Devil’s signature this January. Tottenham and West Ham, both interested in the Englishman, have been rebuffed, due to their proximity in the table.

The reliable Simon Stone revealed:

Deals with Tottenham and West Ham have been dismissed as United feel that would strengthen a top-four rival.

Newcastle, who are fighting relegation, are not in the same bracket.

And that horse has now bolted too, as per a Guardian report that the initial approach has been rejected by Ralf Rangnick and co.

It remains to be seen if they go back in for the England man, or turn their attentions elsewhere.
