Concerns continue to heighten around the health of super-agent Mino Raiola after reports surfaced that the Italian remains in intensive care in a Milanese hospital.

German outlet BILD reported earlier today that Raiola (54) has been at the San Raffaele hospital for a number of weeks due to a serious health concern which Football Italia claimed was actually emergency surgery regarding a pulmonary condition.

Raiola’s spokeswoman dispelled the notions that the influential figure, stating “Mino Raiola is undergoing the usual medical examinations that require anesthesia. Everything was planned and there were no emergency surgeries.”

BILD has stated that his condition has since slightly improved at the time of writing, however, but the fact that he has spent such a long period in the ICU is certainly a cause of considerable concern.

Without discussing the unthinkable while wishing for a speedy recovery to Mino Raiola, the reality of his influence on football to a global scale would shake the very ground should something ill-fated befall the Salerno-native.

According to Forbes, Raiola boasts a portfolio of seventy-seven clients as part of his personal agency shop that handles players from all corners of the globe. Most notably, the likes of Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland, PSG’s Marco Verratti, and Manchester United’s Paul Pogba.

That list also includes a veritable whose-who of the footballing world; Zlatan Ibrahimović, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Lorenzo Insigne, Romelu Lukaku, and Matthijs de Ligt are all clients of his.

In total, Raiola has posted ~£62m in commissions while directly managing contracts with a total value of ~£624m with a combined total contract length of 118-years.

As the fourth most powerful agent on earth for any sport, Raiola is intricately linked to nearly every big club in world football. Considering two of his biggest clients in Haaland and Pogba are both potentially on the move in the summer, his health is of considerable importance to the financial side of the beautiful game.
