A fresh update on Arsenal’s pursuit of Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic has emerged on Friday and it is not good news for the Gunners.

Arsenal’s pursuit of Vlahovic is well documented at this point. It was reported last weekend that the north Londoners had submitted a bid for the Serbian, believed to be €60m and Lucas Torreira, who is currently on loan at Fiorentina from Arsenal.

That same report claimed that Fiorentina’s president was keen to sell, which makes sense given the striker has just 18 months left on his contract.

Now though, Fiorentina’s chief executive has spoken out on a potential Vlahovic transfer, claiming that whilst the club are ready to negotiate, the player and his agent will not talk: “English clubs want Vlahovic, but evidently he’s got other ideas.

“We’re ready to negotiate, but him and his agent won’t talk.”

Arsenal need Vlahovic

On paper, Vlahovic looks like he could be that one marquee signing this young, promising Arsenal side need to take their game to the next level.

The forward is one of the hottest prospects in European football at present.

After a slow start to life in Italy, Vlahovic has since gone on to enjoy a very solid 18 months with I Viola.

2020/21 would see the Serbian international score an impressive 21 goals and provide two assists in 37 Serie A outings.

The young hitman has since continued that fine form into the current campaign, where he has scored 20 and assisted four in 24 outings across all competitions.

Should he move to Arsenal, he would no doubt thrive in front of promising stars such as Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka. However, this new report on Friday suggests a move could be very hard to complete for the Gunners.
