Wolves continued their impressive recent run of form in the Premier League with a credible 2-1 win away at Thomas Frank’s Brentford in the capital earlier today, in a result that saw them cement their position in 8th with a 5-point cushion over Brighton.

But the question at Molineux remains about the future of star winger Adama Traoré; a future that Wolves manager Bruno Lage commented on in the aftermath of their away win.

In quotes provided by The Mirror, the Portuguese made plain that he remains happy with Traoré despite the speculation, while claiming the same of the Spanish international winger: “I am very happy with him and I think he is very happy with us so he played 25 minutes and brings a lot of energy and scored the third [disallowed] goal to finish the game, you see the way he celebrates and he comes to me and we share a hug between us. I’m very happy with him.”

Traoré saga should not underline Wolves’ season

Should Wolves be made to part ways with Adama Traoré this month, it would hardly mark the first time in recent seasons where the Molineux outfit were made to bid farewell to one of their most influential pieces in the jigsaw puzzle.

Diogo Jota, Helder Costa, Matt Doherty, and Rui Patrício have all departed the club in the last two seasons, so while losing Traoré would hardly be ideal, the club have shown resiliency in their ability to persist after personnel losses in the form of some of their former best and brightest.

Bruno Lage gives update on Adama Traoré amid continued transfer speculation

In that vein comes the stability that Bruno Lage has offered after Nuno Espírito Santo unsuccessfully threw his lot in with Tottenham, and where Wolves currently sit in the table is on merit and merit alone.

It is true that they still lack in the goalscoring department overall, and that mostly comes down to a relative lack of consistent creative nuance in key areas of the park, but boasting the second-best defensive record in the Premier League behind only Manchester City is reason enough to suggest that Lage and Wolves are going to be just fine.
