West Ham United boss David Moyes has confirmed his belief that reinforcements will yet arrive at the London Stadium, before the January transfer window is out.

Moyes’ comments, of course, came on the back of his side marking their return to action on Saturday afternoon.

After a concerning 3-2 defeat at the hands of struggling Leeds last time out, the Irons made the trip to Old Trafford, for a crunch showdown with Manchester United amid the tense battle for a top-4 berth in the Premier League.

When all was said and done, however, West Ham only succeeded in slipping to a 2nd successive defeat, as Marcus Rashford’s finish deep into injury-time proved the difference between the sides upon the full-time whistle sounding in Manchester:

In turn, on the back of the action coming to a close on Saturday, it came as little surprise when David Moyes was drawn on the subject of potential additions to his squad over the remaining week of the January transfer window.

And the Scot’s response will no doubt bring a collective smile to the faces of the West Ham faithful, with the club’s boss having confirmed his belief that ‘one or two big signings’ will make their way to the London Stadium over the days ahead:

‘Not for the want of trying…’

So, which area of his squad in particular is Moyes likely to strengthen?

Well, it has long been common knowledge that West Ham have set their sights on fresh blood at centre-back, on the back of the season-ending injury suffered by Angelo Ogbonna.

In addition, though, the capital outfit appear to be on the lookout for a new striker.

When pressed on the possibility of attacking reinforcements being added to his ranks ahead of the 2nd-half of the campaign this evening, Moyes went on to explain:

“In a perfect world, we would. We have been trying for two years to do that. It is not for the want of trying. It is trying to get in players who we think can help us. We will continue trying and keep looking.”
