A fresh update on Andreas Christensen’s contract situation has been provided recently.

The update comes from football.london citing German outlet Sport 1 and the Chelsea Chronicle.

FL claim that German giants Bayern Munich were in contact with Christensen’s representatives last month. But, as it stands, Christensen has not ruled out extending his Chelsea contract.

However, he is also looking for a pay rise. Christensen is reportedly among the lowest earners in the current Chelsea squad with a pre-tax weekly salary of £84,000-per-week.

But the 25-year-old wants to double his salary which would see him earn almost £8.4million-per-year.

What has Tuchel said about Christensen’s contract?

At the back end of 2021, Thomas Tuchel would, despite his previously nailed-down spot in the eleven, drop Christensen for several games in a row.

At the time, Tuchel stated that he hopes that it would influence Christensen’s’ contract decision and that it was his understanding that Chelsea would have good news about the situation shortly: “We have the hope that it influences the contract situation a little bit. My understanding was that it’s a matter of a very short period before we have good news.

“I said this I think in the international break, that it’s for me a matter of days where we think that we can have good news about Andreas.

“As I understood it the club wants the same, the player wants the same, the coach wants the same: to stay. That’s why we need the commitment and then we can continue.”

That, though, was in December, and we are still seemingly no closer to a new deal being agreed between Christensen and Chelsea.
