A fresh insight into Manchester United outcast Jesse Lingard’s proposed move to Newcastle has been forthcoming on Monday evening.

And the news will no doubt be met with widespread approval on the part of the Magpies faithful.

This comes amid the suggestion that the board at St. James’ Park are ‘confident’ of pushing a deal for Lingard, yet to secure a single Premier League start this season, over the line within the next 48 hours.

Not only that, but, as per a report from Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports, it is understood that the midfielder is not against the prospect of making his move to Tyneside a permanent one come the summer.

Lingard will first, though, need to see assurances regarding game-time come to fruition, before assessing the options available to him following the conclusion of the campaign.

Magpies bag crucial three points

News of potential incoming reinforcements to the club’s midfield of course rounds out what has been a stellar 48 hours all-round from a Newcastle perspective.

This comes after Eddie Howe’s troops picked up just a 2nd Premier League win of the campaign, to deal their survival hopes a timely boost.

After making the trip to Elland Road to take on Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United on Saturday, a solitary strike on the part of Jonjo Shelvey ultimately proved enough to guide the Magpies to all three points.

Newcastle, in turn, have climbed clear of Watford into 18th in the English top-flight table, just a point off safety as things stand.
