Burnley have made a breakthrough in their pursuit of Croatian forward Mislav Orsic, according to the reliable Mike McGrath.

The Dinamo Zagreb forward is well known to Tottenham fans, having netted a hat-trick to send them crashing out of last seasons Europa League, while he also scored against West Ham earlier this season.

And now, he could be coming to the Premier League before the end of the window, with Sean Dyche’s side having made a “breakthrough” in a deal worth around 7 million pounds.

The Lancashire club are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements, offering next to nothing going forwards against Arsenal in the absence of Maxwel Cornet, currently at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The sale of Chris Wood means that they head into the final days of the transfer window with money to spend, and could yet do more deals.

What other deals could be done?

It is clear that Burnley’s needs are in the final third, with a creative midfielder and another striker needed in an ideal world.

So far, they have had enquiries for Seko Fofana, a midfielder currently impressing at Lens, knocked back, but could yet go back in for the Ivorian.

Meanwhile, they also hold an interest in striker Serhou Guirassy, although it is unclear what stage any potential deal is at.
