Arsenal are lining up a move for Eredivisie star Coady Gakpo should they be able to shift Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this January, as per reports coming out of France.

Foot Mercato report that the 22 year old winger, who currently plies his trade for PSV Eindhoven, would be lined up as a replacement for the Gabonese striker, who has not played a game for Arsenal since November.

Worse still, he has since been left out of Arsenal’s winter trip to Dubai, the clearest indication yet that his bridges in north London have been well and truly burned.

Aubameyang’s fall from grace

Stripped of the captaincy, Aubameyang has been training alone since returning from international duty with Gabon last week, returning home after scans picked up potential heart lesions.

And, rumours have been circulating since that he could depart this January, amid Arsenal’s high profile search for a new striker.

Six European clubs have been linked, along with Saudi side Al Nassr, but nothing has been agreed yet.

Coady Gakpo, his potential replacement, could be an ace up Arsenal’s sleeve late in the January window. The winger has picked up 6 goals and 10 assists for PSV this season in the Dutch top flight, as well as 4 goals in 10 games across the Champions and Europa League.

At 22 years old, he would continue the club’s project youth, and could provide some much-needed rotation for Bukayo Saka.
