A fresh update on Tottenham’s pursuit of FC Porto winger Luis Diaz has emerged on Friday.

For several days now, Tottenham look to have been eyeing a move for the Colombian.

It was reported on Tuesday that Spurs had tabled a €45m bid for Diaz, but it was swiftly rejected.

Fresh reports then emerged on Thursday which claimed that Spurs had offered up €60m to buy Diaz:

The same report claimed that Porto would decide over the next few hours.

Now, however, the Lilywhites’ move for the Diaz appears to have been stolen out from under them.

As per Paul Joyce of The Times, Liverpool are looking to finalise a £37.5 million deal to sign Luis Diaz after hijacking Tottenham’s interest in the Porto winger.

A blow for Tottenham, yes, but it looks to be a solid bit of business for Liverpool, who are closing in on some much-needed back-up for Sadio Mane and, depending on how well he adapts to England, a long-term replacement for the Senegal man.

Tottenham miss out on Adama Traore

With Diaz now looking set for Liverpool, this will be the second winger Spurs have missed out on in recent days.

For much of the winter window, Antonio Conte’s side have been linked with Adama Traore.

However, the Spaniard is now looking set for a return to FC Barcelona.
