Premier League giants Liverpool look set to have their personnel ranks boosted by the imminent return of a key member of Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

The player primed to return to action? Thiago Alcantara.

As per reliable outlet The Liverpool Echo (as cited by Anfield Watch), Spanish international Thiago is in contention to mark his comeback in the club’s FA Cup 4th round meeting with Cardiff City next weekend.

The former Barcelona man has not taken to the pitch since mid-December, owing to what was understood to be a hip issue.

After returning to full training with the rest of Liverpool’s squad this week, though, Thiago is in line to feature in at least some capacity against Cardiff, in a major boost for all associated with the club.

Elliott shines/Diaz secured

News of Thiago’s return to fitness of course marks just the latest positive development amid a stellar 24 hours on the red half of Merseyside.

First, on Saturday, youngster Harvey Elliott, fresh off the back of his own lengthy spell on the sidelines with a dislocated ankle, marked his return to action in a behind-closed-doors friendly with both a sumptuous individual goal, and an assist:

And the stellar exploits of their up-and-coming midfield sensation have since been followed by Liverpool pushing a deal for their first signing of the winter transfer window over the line.

As confirmed in a series of posts across the club’s social media platforms on Sunday, the Reds have landed FC Porto wide-man Luis Diaz for a fee of around 40 million euro, plus bonuses.
