Mason Greenwood has been suspended by Manchester United on the back of an assault accusation.

For those not familiar, a series of photos, videos and audio clips were posted on the Instagram account of Harriet Robson, understood to be Greenwood’s girlfriend, on Sunday.

The posts in question, which have now been deleted, would see Greenwood accused of assaulting Robson.

Following this, Manchester United released a statement which read as follows: “We are aware of images and allegations circulating on social media.

“We will not make any further comment until the facts have been established. Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind.”

Nike, the sponsor of Greenwood, also released a statement of their own:

Now, as confirmed by the Evening Standard, Greenwood has been suspended by Manchester United after a woman accused him of assaulting her.

Manchester United would release a second statement on the matter, confirming: “Mason Greenwood will not return to training or play matches until further notice.”

The posts are also being investigated by the Great Manchester Police who said they were “aware of images and video circulating on social media. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
