Reports coming out of Germany suggest that Kylian Mbappe has agreed to join Real Madrid.

The Frenchman is, of course, currently plying his trade in Paris with PSG, but is now in the final six months of his current deal.

It was reported recently that PSG and Mbappe were in talks over a short-term extension, but that is now seemingly not the case.

And with Mbappe in the final six months of his contract, he is able to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs, and looks to have done so with Real Madrid.

German outlet BILD are running the report as an exclusive, stating that Kylian Mbappe has agreed a deal to join Real Madrid as a free agent in summer, and they say he will earn €50m a year.

Will Real Madrid still try to sign Erling Haaland?

If Mbappe is indeed set to sign for Madrid in the summer, will Los Blancos still go for Erling Haaland when his release clause becomes active?

Reports back in December of 2021 suggested that Real were eyeing a double-swoop for the duo.

This would, on paper, hand Madrid the deadliest attack in world football for potentially the next decade or so.

However, in the opinion of Barcelona’s Gerard Pique, both Haaland and Mbappe will not play in the same team.

Speaking to streamer Ibai Llanos on Twitch recently, Gerard Pique stated: “If I had to bet, I would say that Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé will not play in the same team.

“It’s my opinion, not information, but they are two players who will fight for the Ballon d’Or,”

Also, if Haaland and Mbappe were to join Madrid, where would that leave Karim Benzema, who has been in the best form of his career over the last few years.
