Liverpool look set to loan out one of their five senior central defenders on deadline day.

The player set to move is Nat Phillips, with it reported on Monday afternoon that Liverpool and Bournemouth have reached a verbal agreement for the loan of the defender.

The final details are still to be completed on the player’s side, including personal terms:

Nat Phillip’s Liverpool stint

Phillips moving on loan makes a fair bit of sense given his playing time this season.

The 24-year-old would be signed by Liverpool from Bolton back in 2016. The defender has since spent a lot of time with the Reds’ under-23s or out on loan with Vfb Stuttgart.

However, Phillips would be given a chance to shine for Liverpool in 2020/21 due to their centre-back crisis, which saw all of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip out for long periods.

And, at the back end of last season, Phillips would even form a solid partnership with Ozan Kabak at the heart of the Merseysider’s defence as they went on an unbeaten run from week 28 to week 38 of the PL campaign.

However, with the aforementioned trio now back fit and Ibrahima Konate now signed from RB Leipzig, Phillips has become Liverpool’s 5th choice centre-back and is yet to make a league appearance this campaign.
