Liverpool have seen their move for Fabio Carvalho fall through at the eleventh hour as the transfer window slammed shut.

It was thought that an agreement had been reached between the two clubs, but they left the agreement too late and failed to submit the correct paperwork in time.

Carvalho was set to become Liverpool’s second winter addition, after Luis Diaz became a Liverpool player over the weekend in a 60 million euro deal from Porto. However, this is no longer going to happen.

What next?

However, as per the reliable Paul Joyce, a deal could still be struck. The journalist revealed: ‘if all parties agree there can still be a pre-agreement for the player to move to Liverpool in July. There is no immediate time pressure for that agreement to be reached’.

However, Carvalho is out of contract with the Cottagers in the summer, which could see Fulham miss out on any substantial fee given that should he move for free, it will be a tribunal that decides the compensation the London club receive.

At 19, he could yet be a masterstroke from the Liverpool transfer team.
