Manchester United goalkeeper David dea Gea has been named as the Premier League’s Player of the Month for January.

De Gea would top a six-man January shortlist that also featured West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen, Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, Leeds’ Jack Harrison, Wolves’ Joao Moutinho and Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse.

It is the first time David de Gea was won the Premier League Player of the Month award despite being at Manchester United for many years now.

How did David de Gea win Premier League Player of the Month?

David de Gea played four Premier League matches during the month of January.

He would keep just one clean sheet in these four ties, in a 1-0 win over West Ham on January 22nd.

But even though he conceded four goals, the Spaniard still put on a number of world-class displays that played key roles in United securing a win over Brentford and a point vs Aston Villa.

Manchester United vs Middlesbrough

Manchester United are now set to face off with Championship outfit Middlesbrough in the 4th round of the FA Cup on Friday evening.

The Red Devils would face off with Aston Villa in the 3rd round, picking up a 1-0 win in the process.

And, though cup competitions often see clubs play their second-choice keeper in the early rounds, Manchester United actually started De Gea over Dean Henderson vs Aston Villa.
