Everton midfielder Andre Gomes has taken to social media on Saturday evening, to send a heartfelt message to the Toffees faithful.
The message in question comes in the form of an acknowledgement that the club’s fans, on the back of a lengthy stretch of frankly abysmal form under the watch of Rafael Benitez, deserve better.
Gomes was of course back in action this afternoon, shining in the middle of the park en route to Man of the Match honours in Everton’s FA Cup meeting with Thomas Frank’s Brentford.

And the Portuguese has since dedicated both his individual display, and the club’s triumph at Goodison Park, to those of a Blues persuasion who ‘deserved a night like this’:

Mina kicks Lamps era into gear
Gomes’ efforts to reach out to the Everton faithful of course come on the back of the Frank Lampard era on Merseyside getting off to a flying start.
After welcoming the aforementioned Brentford to Goodison, the Toffees looked reinvigorated from the off, pinning Thomas Frank’s Bees back to ultimately emerge on the right side of a dominant 4-1 scoreline.
Yerry Mina got things up and running on the half-hour mark, before all of Richarlison, Mason Holgate and Andros Townsend followed with strikes of their own, to keep the club’s FA Cup adventure very much alive.
