An insight into Arsenal’s stance on selling William Saliba has been provided recently.

Arsenal of course secured Saliba’s services in the summer of 2019. The Gunners are believed to have forked over around £27m for the centre-back.

Despite the hefty fee, however, Arsenal are yet to hand Saliba a senior appearance.

Instead, the centre-back has now been loaned out to three separate clubs, the latest of which came in the form of Marseille.

For Marseille, Saliba has been a superb asset this term, they currently have the second-best defensive record in Ligue 1, letting in just 20 in 23.

And Saliba is a big reason why, featuring in 22 of their league outings so far this season.

Amid this fine form, it was reported recently that Saliba was attracting interest from Spanish powerhouse, Real Madrid.

Now, as mentioned above, an update on Arsenal’s view on selling Saliba has been provided.

As per football.london citing reports from France, Arsenal are unlikely to allow William Saliba to leave this summer despite reported interest from the likes of Real Madrid.

FL also mention interest in Saliba from both Milan-based clubs, but a move is seemingly unlikely.

Should Arsenal sell Saliba?

Whilst Saliba has clear quality, would he be a regular starter at Arsenal next season?

The Gunners are by no means the finished article, but they do have a solid centre-back pairing in Ben White and Gabriel.

And whilst Saliba may get some game time next campaign, especially if Arsenal secure European football, would he be happy going from a nailed-on starter to a 3rd-choice defender, or would it be better if Arsenal are able to recoup the money they paid for him and potentially a bit more given how well he has played of late.
