Manchester United and Ralf Rangnick have been handed a worrying personnel update ahead of their trip to Turf Moor on Tuesday evening.

The Red Devils are looking to bounce back from their FA Cup disappointment on Friday night, where they crashed out on penalties against Championship side Middlesbrough, and Rangnick will seemingly have almost a full squad to choose from to do so.

Both Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani have returned to training after reportedly asking for time off from the manager, although Lingard denied that this is the case on his personal social media accounts.

‘The club advised me to have time off due to personal reasons! But my headspace is clear and I’ll always be professional when called upon and give 100 percent’, the midfielder told his 2.8 million Twitter followers on Friday afternoon.

Fred a doubt

One man who may be unavailable, however, is Fred. The midfielder left the training compound just 20 minutes after arriving on Monday morning, reports Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News.

This, therefore, means that he did not participate in team training ahead of the match against Sean Dyche’s side, and as a result must be considered a doubt to play any part in the clash.

Fortunately, Paul Pogba should be fit for the game, having made his first start in five months against Middlesbrough, while Scott McTominay is also available. So too is Nemanja Matic, although surely given his age in more of a needs-must capacity than anything else.

However, Fred could prove a big miss.
