Leicester City’s embarrassing defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest has seen the odds slashed on boss Brendan Rodgers being sacked at some point over the coming weeks.

The Foxes got the defence of their FA Cup crown back underway on Sunday, making the trip to the City Ground for a meeting with Championship outfit Forest.

When all was said and done in the East Midlands, however, the hopes of Rodgers and co. of retaining their title went up in smoke.

A dismal display across the 90 minutes ultimately culminated in Leicester being put to the sword by four goals to one, owing to strikes on the part of all of Philip Zinckernagel, Brennan Johnson, Joe Worrall and Djed Spence.

And, if the ensuing reaction at bookmakers across the United Kingdom is anything to go by, then his side’s alarming defeat could yet prove altogether costly for Brendan Rodgers.

This comes with the odds on the Northern Irish tactician being sacked having been slashed.

Rodgers now sits at just 4/1 to cut short his stint at the King Power Stadium, the lowest odds of any Premier League manager.

Salah to feature?

All at Leicester, in turn, will no doubt be desperate for a bounce-back result in midweek, when the Foxes make the daunting trip to Anfield for a Premier League meeting with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

The uphill battle facing Thursday’s visitors, however, could yet be made all the more difficult by the return of a key member of Liverpool’s frontline.

As confirmed by the reliable Paul Joyce of The Times, just 24 hours on from having his Africa Cup of Nations dreams shattered at the hands of Senegal, Mohamed Salah has made clear his plans to return to training with immediate effect, ‘eager’ to feature from the off against Leicester:
