An altogether unusual statistic has surfaced online on Thursday evening, centering on the disciplinary record of Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey.

Partey and co. are of course currently locked in action, in a Premier League meeting with Wolves at Molineux.

The clash marks a crucial one amid the battle for European football in the English top-flight, with Bruno Lage’s hosts, ahead of kick-off, having been aware that a victory would see them leapfrog both Arsenal and Tottenham into 7th.

As things stand, however, it is in fact the visitors who boast the advantage when it comes to the scoreline.

This comes with the only goal of the evening thus far having been netted by Gunners stopper Gabriel Magalhaes inside the opening half hour of action.

After a corner from the left was only half-cleared by Wolves’ backline, a ball across the face of goal ultimately fell to the awaiting Gabriel just yards from goal, with Arsenal’s Brazilian international having made little mistake in slotting into an empty net:

Partey heavily punished

As alluded to above, though, amid an otherwise positive night’s work thus far from an Arsenal perspective, an altogether bizarre statistic has surfaced, surrounding the efforts of midfield star Thomas Partey.

In the midst of another hit-and-miss showing thus far in the west Midlands, Ghanaian international Partey was booked late in the first-half, following midfield partner Granit Xhaka into Michael Oliver’s notebook.

The former Atletico Madrid man’s latest yellow came on the back of his first foul of the evening, with it having since, in turn, been confirmed that Partey has therefore remarkably been booked for each of his last three fouls in Arsenal’s colours.

This of course comes after the Ghanaian was dismissed owing to a quick-fire pair of yellows in his last appearance, in a League Cup meeting with Liverpool.
